Time and Tide Wait for No Man

Go Bama! Roll Tide!

[Not one of the better college fight songs imo. Just sayin’]

    Thanks for passing the salt!

Alas – our great Domers failed to come and play, were in many respects totally out-matched, and (finally) hampered by TRULY unbelievably bad and outright unfair calls.

I am confident that the followers of The Great “Tash” (ref. C.S. Lewis for those unfamiliar) are celebrating the downfall.

Of course… in most circles around the country (mind you, totally my opinion based on the commentary I heard leading up to this game), there is a basic and generally understood hatred of ND. Not solely due to jealousy, or a dislike of the Irish, but because there is a solid and unyielding historical dislike of Catholics (witnessed by years of bigotry and discrimination – not the least of which, in the town I grew up in, Hinsdale, Illinois, during the depression, a cross was burned in front of our Catholic Church).

This game constituted in some ways, hope – hope that the underdog can actually prevail, hope that we Catholics can have a national voice again after scandal, and hope that faith (at least insofar as the Catholic faith is concerned) can have prominence in our lives.

Those of us (loyal) Roman Catholics, who actively choose not to follow the sway of the throng of vitriol and spite (or the evangelical/baptist right that rules this country) can take solace in the fact that our faith (and actual victory) is built on humility and ridicule for our belief – Notre Dame has amply supplied us with same.

Our Lady of Victory, Pray for Us

    1. My condolences Cuthbert. I fully intended to play ND’s fight song today had you won, but ya know, you were playing Alabama not MSU so there wasn’t much chance of that. If it eases the pain any, every time Coach Satan wins a national championship, I curse the Board of Trustees at State for being such damn cheapskates! On to basketball!
